‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Trailer: A Culmination of Everything That Has Come Before

Forget internal conflict and complex relationships for a second and remember, that despite S.H.I.E.L.D. being infiltrated by Hydra and failing to serve its function, and despite the Ultron project tearing apart Earth’s Mightiest and leading to a Civil War, The Avengers – at their very core – are heroes. And heroes they must become once again beginning in 2018.

Marvel Studios held a special presentation for press and fans at El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on October 28th where they unveiled the entirely of Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nine filmswere announced/re-confirmed beginning with Captain America: Civil War in May 2016 leading up to the second half of a two-part Avengers: Infinity War, the final film announcement of the event.

The unveiling of Infinity War builds upon the foundation set in the films to date and what’s’still to come from Marvel Studios in theaters (and on TV) over the next several years and confirms recent reportsof The Avengers 3 & 4 tying together and launching an even bigger event. This is that event and you can see the low-res hand-cam of the announcement teaser up top beginning at the 10:50 mark.

The Avengers have already triumphed over Loki, and next summer they’ll face Ultron…but nothing could prepare them for the menace of Thanos.

How big of a threat does Thanos pose, you ask? Big enough to span two epic films, beginning with Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War Part 1” on May 4, 2018, and concluding in Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War Part 2” on May 3, 2019 for one massive cinematic event.

And it’s all part of the plan according to Marvel Studios president of production Kevin Feige who reflected on the franchise’s humble beginnings with 2008’s Iron Man:

“We’ve always had a plan since Nick Fury broke into Tony Stark’s house and told him he’s part of a bigger universe. Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is the beginning of the culmination of everything that has come before.”
